The past couple of of weeks everything has been focused on what is tragedy, how it relates to life today, and how it relates literature. To be honest with you I feel like we haven't really learned a whole lot, like I get what tragedy is based on all the examples that have been given. I am surprised that we haven't talked about how the word tragedy relates to the word ironic. I think the two words can be used as similar meanings.
Anyways I don't really know what I want to write about for this blog post because I don't want it to be really similar to my last two tragedy posts... Plus there are is so much more blog posts that we have been doing in this class, like ahhhh this is a lot for me to do and I am falling behind because I have other things to do besides AP Lit. I have been trying to write this week 9 post for like three hours and I haven't gotten anywhere. Week 8 we read the poem "35/10" and I really enjoyed reading that poem and we went into depth. In class we reflected on what the mother in the poem was saying. It was interesting to me how the mother went from calling herself a servant, to accepting aging, she accepting aging very quickly. Week 9 was strictly tragedy targeted, so we read "Tragedy and the Common Man" and read Oedipus, and that gave me a better understanding of how tragedy affects us in our lives. And how tragedy ties to literature. We also watched a TED talk, askinging the question if we truly make choices for ourselves.
