So this week of AP Literature I was really able to get a good understanding about what literature is. In class we read "Story versus literature: Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials Trilogy. In this text the writer gave really good examples, that I was able to relate to. One of the examples that stood out to me was the the differences between a book and that book's movie. Now a lot of people say that the book is always better than the movie, and I agree. Often people say that movies leave out too much details, or change parts of the story line. This writer stated that you can take a plot, the events, and the story part of a book and turn that into a movie. And what is left out in the movie, is the real literature. From that writer's point of view that states that literature is everything that a movie left out was able to let me make up my own example. While reading any book, in my mind I can set my own type of mood to the narration of each character(s). I can come up in my own mind what I want that character(s) to look like, talk like, dress like, the list can go on. But when I am watching a movie, everything is already set up for me. The way the character talks, will be the way the actor/actress protres their role. The way a character dresses will be based on how the director and others see them. Movies that are based off of books loose so much imagination. As a reader you can interpret a book in so many ways, but while watching that movie the movie is interpreted through someone else's eyes.

Wow week one of my senior year is complete… Knowing that this is my last year of high school just astounds me. How can I be a senior in high school? And where did the past three years go? I am really looking forward to my final year of high school, I really hope I can make some amazing memories. I want to give this school year my all. I want to make memories with my friends, be involved with my class, finish this year with great grades, but mostly just have fun. A lot of people say that high school passes by so quickly and for those of us who are still in high school to just enjoy the moment. A big goal for me this school year is to just enjoy the moment. Like many high school students I am ready to move on and go to college. And with that being said, I may want to push myself out of high school and little too quickly. Over and over again I hear and get told “enjoy high school”. I really want to enjoy this last year, and make the most of everything. There’s a time for everything. Usually the first week of school is a whole lot of boringness, lots of going over class rules and expectations. However since this is my last year of high school I tried putting a positive mindset to this first week. Having a positive outcome before the week really did a difference for me. I genuinely enjoyed being at school and even listening to the teachers give their first day of school lectures. Since I put myself in a positive mindset I was able to enjoy things that usually would have annoyed me, or made me feel bored. Instead I enjoyed listening to my teachers, and hearing what they would like to teach us this school year. |
